Netflix’s “I Am Not Okay With This” features a queer and she has superpowers. what more could one ask for. Going through puberty is bad enough, But it’s even harder, when someone has to deal with it while grieving father’s suicide, bitterness towards mother, a lesbian crush on best friend, and psychokinetic powers making you question your very sanity.

Meet Sydney “Syd” Novak, a 17-year-old girl played by Sophia Lillis. Sydney describe herself “boring 17-year-old white girl” and “not that special girl.”

Her father recently killed himself and she’s new to a small Pennsylvania town with her mother and younger brother. She’s quite and moody, and has only one friend, Dina (Sofia Bryant), who she’s also secretly in love with, But Dina happens to be dating the school’s homophobic bully Brad Lewis (Richard Ellis). and Syd’s mom think she’s difficult because she won’t talk to her about her father.

It’s all too much, much to her terror, Sydney finds that she has telekinetic powers, that make people’s noses bleed, able to move and destroy things with her mind.  She has no idea how to talk to anyone about these powers, let alone control them.

But there’s a lot she doesn’t know how to talk about, how much she misses her Dad, how much she resents her Mom and how strong her feelings are for her best friend, Dina. But Syd is definitely pretty special.

The seven-episode series reveals that “I Am Not Okay With This” explores the powerful anger of 17-year-old queer teen girl who is trying to come to terms with her grief and sexuality.

It is based on the graphic novel by Charles Forsman of the same name. It is created by the same director and producer of End of the F***ing World, Jonathan Entwistle.

I don’t wanna spoil anything for you. So just watch this trailer and do watch the full series on Netflix. It’s quite good actually.
