Gender identity refers to a person’s internal sense of being male, female or something else. How a person feel from inside, ‘their inner sense of who they are’. It involves more than the anatomical – it involves the inner knowledge and outer expression of one’s sex.
It is the personal sense of one’s own gender. It can be same as person’s assigned sex at birth or can differ from it.
In most societies, there are typically two gender, male and female. Sometimes society understand these gender by Gender Expression. Gender Expression means how a person externally expresses their gender, how they behave and present themselves.
Gender Expression or Gender role typically reflects a person’s gender identity, but this is not always the case. Gender identity is an internal, deeply-rooted sense of self, Gender Expression is how a person externally expresses their gender identity and how they behave and present themselves. Expression may or may not reflect to a person’s gender identity. For example, if a person express typically male characteristics in behavior, dress, and/or mannerisms, His Gender Identity may or may not be Male. It will all depend on what He thinks of himself from inside.
Gender identity can be same as person’s assigned sex at birth or can differ from it. In some cases person’s ‘inner sense of who they are’ is different from what their gender labeled at birth.
When a child is born, a doctor says, “It’s a boy” or “It’s a girl” based on biology. Most people who were labeled ‘male at birth’ grow up to be a man, and identify as man, and most people who were labeled ‘female at birth’ grow up to be women and identify as women. such peoples are called Cisgender. Cisgender people are those whose gender identity is the same as the sex they were assigned at birth.
In other cases person’s gender identity is different from what their gender labeled at birth, for example transgenders, non-binary or genderqueer. For Cisgender, their gender identity matches their sex at birth. For transgender people, the two do not match.
Gender identity is how a person sees themselves – their own internal sense and personal experience of gender.
Sexual identity is how a person thinks of themselves in terms of to whom they are romantically or sexually attracted. Sexuality is about how you see and express yourself sexually – like who you have a crush on, who you want to go out with, and who you want to have sexual experiences with.
Sexual identity may also refer to sexual orientation identity. Sexual identity and sexual behavior are closely related to sexual orientation, but with a little bit of difference. Identity referring to an individual’s concept of themselves, behavior referring to how a person see and express yourself sexually.
sexual orientation referring to a person’s emotional, romantic, and sexual attraction towards other people. Sexual orientation may include: Attraction towards the same gender (homosexuality i.e. gay, lesbian). Attraction towards a gender different than your own (heterosexuality i.e. straight). Attraction towards both men and women (bisexuality). Attraction towards all genders (pansexual) or Attraction towards no gender (asexuality).
